Fruity Sex

Following on from yesterday's post about the Valentine's paste ups, I came across this:
This morning.

Now, let me ask you. Would you You Tube search Fruity Sex? That is kinda what got me, no way would I You Tube Fruity Sex - nor would I Google it.

I would however, Facebook it.

Which gives you a really nice, safe way to check out the relevant YT clip, as it is in a "safe" environment.
For your interest, here is the video:

In a nice safe environment.

Now, I would LOVE to think that this is actually a campaign for Bonita, but something tells me it is actually an AdSchool kinda deal... yeah? Don't think Bonita would use the word Fuck in a campaign. Or would they?

What do you gets think? I love it. Think it is brilliant. Also love the fact that someone on the Facebook page has pointed out that when you like their page it states likes Fruity Sex.

AWESOME.

Anyone know who is behind this? I'll buy them a beer. Or a banana smoothie.

I wish this was a real campaign

So, in previous years I have not been a big fan of Valentine's Day. This year it was pretty awesome, but I do realise it is still pretty average for a lot of people.

Walking down Queen St today I saw these taped to various walls:
Certainly got my attention. I was really, super hoping that it might be an advertising campaign of some description, although don't ask me who I thought it might be for.

Checking it out on Facebook it really seems like nothing much. Plus, whoever it is has 'liked' the Edge Morning Crew. Epic fail before they started.

Can someone please execute a campaign, similar to this, for a real client please? Cos that would be really ace. You might need to put some money behind it (more than posters) but it'd be worth it...

Mini - you guys love throwing your money away... what do you think?

Taking on Fonterra

Greenpeace are doing some interesting work taking on Fonterra at the moment. Well, actually this is a few weeks old now, but still interesting nonetheless.

First photo is at my local Countdown in the juice asile. Obviously executed guerilla styles as I don't think Countdown would really allow such a thing.
Second photo is just a paste up along K rd.
Now, I'm all for street posters and guerilla tactics, love it, but what is with the non-consistent URLs which they are driving people to?

The first drives to this site, greenpeace.co.nz/milk:
and the second fonterra-secrets.com:
Now, they seem to be pushing the same message, so why aren't they going to the same URL? Surely it makes more sense building just one site? Costs less, one hub, one united front. Wouldn't look like the people who are doing this are working in silos and have no idea what other people in the same organisation are doing? (Which it kinda does now)

By the way, the ad is horrific:

Makes me glad I drink mostly rice milk.

Being nice about BNZ

I was going to share a new favourite site of the week, but I like it heaps and actually, want to be self fish and keep it to myself. Sorry. No site for you guys. Instead, I am going be nice about BNZ. Shock. Horror.

So, I have talked about BNZ linking to OTHER BANKS in their own online advertising, crazy expandable banners on Stuff, unfortunate coincides of their video ads showing against Swine Flu articles (has anyone heard of negative keywords?), their revised and much better business partners ad, and yet another expandable banner which confused me.

Lets be fair, I haven't had a lot of positive things to say. However, today, I take a lot of it back.

I noticed this paste up yesterday, and had to take a pic:
This little piggy has taken up the entire Phantom board. The whole thing. I like it, you can't not notice it. It ties in brilliantly with the television campaign (as much as I am not a fan of it) and works in this medium.

So this is where I take a lot of my negative comments back.

The one thing I have not acknowledged through any of my BNZ posts is that at least the client is willing to try different things. As with most agencies, we spend a lot of time coming up with creative ideas and options for clients which, for one reason or another, are not seen through to completion. It seems to me (and I may be wrong) that BNZ seem to be a little more courageous than some other banks out there for trying different things, at least giving them a shot (you don't see too many banks doing pasteups...) A lot of that will be down to the agency and a team that challenge their client to push boundaries.

As we all know last week Sugar & Spark have taken BNZ off Y&R. Sucks to be Y&R, but best of luck for Sugar & Spark. I have no doubt that you guys will continue to push the boundaries, and I look forward to what comes next (great blog fodder...)
