I heart the internets

So, apologies, been a bit slack as of recent times. There are A LOT of gigs/parties/other things to do other than write blog posts that have been keeping me busy, however, as always, I love the Internets. Constant source of fun and entertainment.

So, here is a little list of all the things tickling my toes right now:

MOVIES

Ok, there is a host of awesome new movies that are coming up but the 2 that I am uber excited about are:

Alice in Wonderland - yes, it's going to be in 3D. No, I haven't seen Avatar. No, I don't care. I am SO excited about Alice. Check out this featurette with J Depp.

BOY. So, I have to admit, one of the reasons that I am so excited about BOY is because I have been lucky enough to be working on some of the promotion for the film. The beautiful Shayna Quinn and ever talented Rob have produced 2 awesome websites for us. The BOY website going live yesterday in time for BOY's screening at Sundance today and the CRAZYHORSES (Aotearoa's bestest new gang) site back in Dec. The other reason I am excited is because it is going to be an awesome movie!

AMAZING DESIGNERS

As well as Shayna and Rob above, also Hannah Souter who launched her site I think this week. It is great to see so many brilliant designers around at the moment.

AWESOME TV SHOWS THE NZ DOESN'T GET

Party Down - awesome series which commences a second season in April on the Starz network in the US. If you can get your hands on this, I'd totally recommend it!

Nevermind the Buzzcocks - I have talked to both TVNZ and Mediaworks programmers about this and finally someone told me that the reason they can't buy it for NZ is because of the music licensing, which sucks.
They just finished season season 23 and here is part one, part two and part three of the highlights of season 23. Pretty freaking awesome!!
Anyway, although Ladyhawke turned down the opportunity to be a contestant (I can understand why) one of her songs was used in the intros round. Totes famous.

Just doesn't get any better than fail blog.

Hook Placement Fail.
epic fail

That's it, for right now.

Have an ace loooooong weekend Wellingtonians!

K I S S

Something my mother drilled into me at quite a young age was KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. As with all good motherly advice, she has been right about this, time and again, in a manner of different situations I have found myself in. What I really like it that others obviously follow the same mantra.

This is the best email I have received so far this year. Granted it is only the 6th but others have included pre-sales for Gin Wigmore - it would seem as though Ticket Master really has NO idea about my musical preferences. Anyway...

This email came through from Stable. No subject. Nothing too much to read, just:
You can pretty much guarantee I will go.

Actually, Stable are also very high in my opinion due to one of the lovely ladies there, Sophie, is just one of the nicest and most helpful sales assistants that I have dealt with in a long time. Maybe she is the manager? Anyway, I bought a pair of sunnies (which my flatmate promptly fell in love with and bought herself a pair also) which unfortunately cracked about a month after I bought them. I took them back and as they didn't want to glue the crack in the fear it would ruin them, they gave me a store credit. After quite some time (been very busy) I went in and purchased a garment (yes, spent more money, but Cybele is always worth it) where not only did Sophie recognise me but she even gave me the glasses back if I wanted to try to fix them myself. So lovely.

What's my point? I guess it is refreshing to see someone who actually tries to sell the inventory they have. She put me in some jeans and another top, and while I didn't purchase, I did appreciate the attention and effort. Having bitched previously about the lost art of selling, it's not that it is lost, it's just still working in retail.
